𝓕rom the hallowed halls of Rancho de la Luna; that witch's womb of stoner rock, and loosed from the land of Lancashire, arrives the next generation of fuzz-fueled, desert-drivin', hazily heavy rock. Welcome to Sky Valley Mistress. A tomb for the dead sun. The ruckus is entering town.
Favorite track: Punk Song.
The calendar says March 20, but this is Christmas for my ears and headbangin' heart. If there's an old fart in your life that whines about how the kids don't rock and roll like they used to, this album will SHUT. HIM. UP. Because the kids *do* know how to rock, and this is the blessed, amazing proof of that fact!
Favorite track: She Is So.
“I want this to perforate your eardrums, have a fight inside your head and leave a slow burnin’ fire in the darkest part of your mind.”
These are the words of Dave Catching, Mojave Lord, guitarist with Eagles Of Death Metal, QOTSA and co-producer with the band of this release on New Heavy Sounds.
Dave’s kick starts the debut album from Sky Valley Mistress, introducing eight tracks of full on hard and heavy stoner rock, guaranteed to nail your ass to the wall from the get-go.
Sky Valley Mistress are 4 young upstarts from Blackburn, Lancashire, full of spit and vinegar who have delivered a ferocious, two fingered hello to rest of the world with 'Faithless Rituals'.
In fact, SVM could easily hold their own against the likes of Jim Jones, Rival Sons, Royal Blood, BRMC or any other rockers - greasy or otherwise.
On listening to level of musicianship and vocal prowess shown on their debut, you can only assume this group young blood’s signed a deal with the devil on their journey to the desert.
The album was recorded at the legendary Rancho De La Luna in Joshua Tree, California and like all great rock and roll it oozes the vibe and attitude heard on the record.
As Dave Catching says:
“Let it puncture your heart, bleed through your body and electrify your soul.
Because this … THIS IS ROCK AND ROLL.”
